Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1 (Holman)
I left my last post there for a while, and, indeed, I still struggle daily as we all will. But I'm finding great peace and comfort in Paul's words from Roman 8 - perhaps the most poetic declaration of God's grace to those of us who believe. It's beautiful writing, and one of my most treasured passages in all of the Bible.
How good it is to know that even as I struggle to extinguish from my life those thing the Lord finds detestable, that I can be comforted in the sure knowledge that the price of my salvation is paid.
I don't have to join one sect or another in an effort to work my way back in to God's good graces. Neither the length of my ear locks nor the number of tassels on my shawl matter in the least. I don't have to face any particular direction and genuflect several times a day to appease an vengeful God. No amount of good works, money donated, or time sacrificed for my church will change my standing as a redeemed child of God one iota. I'm free to worship my God today, just as I am.
Grace. It's what separates God from the pretenders. And it's a beautiful thing.
